Tune-Up Checklists
Gas Furnace:
- Change 1" pleated filter or wash electronic air cleaner
- Test fire & cycle the furnace
- Pull and clean burners & pilot
- Inspect & clean blower compartment (blower wheel for additional charge)
- Inspect flue
- Check for carbon monoxide leaks
- Check and adjust gas pressure
- Lubricate parts as needed
- Test safety shutoff system
Electric Furnace:
- Change 1" pleated filter or wash electronic air cleaner
- Inspect & clean all controls and wiring
- Check supply voltage & amperage draws
- Inspect and clean blower compartment (blower wheel for additional charge)
- Lubricate parts as needed
- Test safety shutoff system
Heat Pump or Air Conditioner:
- Change 1" pleated filter or wash electronic air cleaner
- Cycle system in heat & cool modes
- Check heat strips on indoor unit (emergency backup heating)
- Inspect all wiring & electrical components
- Check amperage draw
- Inspect & clean blower compartment (blower wheel for additional charge)
- Inspect and clean indoor & outdoor coils
- Flush condensate pump
- Check refrigerant charge
- Check temperatures
- Lubricate parts as needed
- Wash outdoor unit
